The two staff were great - they speak English quite well, and were very patient with our very poor Japanese. Dinner + Breakfast is really good (but you do need to let them know you would like to have dinner when you are making your booking).

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. Amazing staff who were really helpful by providing information and transportation when needed. I was in the shared room / dorm which was quite spacious for three people. They provided clear indications regarding the onsen system. Breakfast options were nice. I recommend it.

The location (walking distance to snow monkey park and to shibu onsen), the food, the rooms, the onsen was wonderful. It's a bit dated, but super well maintained. I actually liked the old school charm and luxury.

A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. The onsen especially outside was wonderful. The meals we’re amazing and the staff were exceedingly helpful

Oshi Ryokan ligger bara 5 minuters promenad från den historiska helgedomen Togakushi. Här erbjuds traditionellt boende i det fridfulla bergsområdet, som används för pilgrimer. Everything’s so perfect ~~ The owner Oshi San was super helpful. The room is spacious and with view overlooking a garden. It’s so lovely with a green view in summer. It’s a quiet location so I sleep pretty well. And the meals prepared are Fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. [heart].

Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya ligger bara 10 minuters bilresa från Snow Monkey Park och erbjuder enkelt boende i japansk stil med gratis Wi-Fi. The accommodation and onsen (for private use) were superb! The owners were very friendly and offered to drive me from/to the Yudanaka train station as well as to/from the Monkey Forest free of charge. The street the onsen is on was very beautiful, close to other onsens (if needed), restaurants and bars, but at the same time, very quiet. I recommend this place very much!

A 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, Kadowakikan features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and free WiFi. The owner was so nice and friendly, always available to help and provide useful information. I rented all ski material and lift pass through him, and everything was so easy and efficient. The bedroom is spacious, with adorable traditional decoration and great view, and the bed was also super comfortable. The onsen on the hotel was the cherry on top of the cake, after a ski day. There was also a green slope (suitable to all levels) ending at 3 minutes away from the property, which was very convenient.
