The quiet location, the helpful staff and the shuttle from the hotel to the train station. The room was big too and had a beautiful view, we could have seen fireworks but we got lost and got to the hotel after they finished

The breakfast was fine for us. The location was convenient. The parking was nearby and not unreasonable.
There were restaurants nearby for dinner. The staff who assisted me also spoke some English.

Everything was above our expectations, the pictures doesn’t even make justice to how good and beautiful everything is. The staff was super friendly, even waited longer although our flight made us late for dinner. And the bath is out of this world. Recommend to everyone

From my perspective, there wasn't much to do within a mile walk of the property.
Only one restaurant off site in that mile two convenience stores and if you walk a bit further a pretty mellow "redlight" district

Otsu Town seems not beautiful at first sigh.
Otsu Town seems not beautiful at first sigh. But go to have a walk behind the hotel. The countryside is like a Miyazaki movie getting real ! You can go near from there : temples, beach, ski station with incredible view… But with the hotel’s shuttle and the station you have Kyoto, very near, Nara, Osaka a little farther. You’ve got all Kansaï by JR… A good tip : when you go to the station to Shirahige shrine, don’t take bus but walk with GPS. The way is just incredible with village, other shrines so quiet and monkey looking at you from the forest behind rice fields…

Otsu, located near Kyoto, is another treasure place in Japan. Faced to Biwa lake it has many historical monument and cultural hotspots. In summer the big firework event is so famous to attract many people. In Biwako Hall many world class concerts and plays are performed. Local fishes and sakes are another charm for visitors. Once you come here you cannot help missing this unforgettable city.

At first I thought I might be bored but there’s so much to do! It’s a little difficult to travel from place to place; lots of walking. But there’s lots of history, friendly people, and beautiful nature.

Otsu is a great location to get away from the city life of Japan. It is quite peaceful here and is located next to a large lake (lake biwa) which is perfect for fishing enthusiasts. Overall, this location is clean and quiet, different from the bustling cities of Japan and i would recommend this place to those who enjoy a scenic walk and a calm environment.

Beautiful spot near the lake.
Beautiful spot near the lake. Perfect for those that want to stay a little out of the hustle and bussle, in perhaps a bigger / better value for money hotel, but still within close proximity to Kyoto.
Everything. The service provided is top notch even though we are using English as a medium of speak. The room is spacious and the bath provided is just so good. Since we're ordering Halal menu set, I would say the menu is fantastic as it includes seafood, beef and chicken which is hard to find for halal option here. The shuttle service also is quite helpful as there is no medium of transportation to the Ryoukan from the station and a mobile phone is provided to contact them at the station.
The Koke Musu Inn was by far my favorite place to stay during a two week trip to Japan. The house is decorated in a way that was deeply creative and quirky. The room was extremely cozy and well equipped. Best of all, our host was so kind and accommodating. I will be staying here the next time I’m anywhere near Kyoto! I wish I was here for the entire trip.
Yuzanso is a beautiful Ryokan with a view over lake Biwa. The rooms are great and have a beautiful view over Lake Otsu from the bathtub in the room.
The best thing about Yuzansou is that they offer halal options to Muslim travelers, one of the only Ryokans in Japan. So now even Muslims can get the full japanese ryokan experience.
We like how the beds were elevated , so we could put our luggages underneath the bed frame. That gives much more space to walk around in the room. The bathroom size is bigger than most Japanese hotel. Which is good 👍 maybe it is because we booked a triple room also. Not sure a standard room comes with same size of bathroom or not.
Accomodating, amazing helpful staff. They booked a reservation at a brilliant local restaurant for us and helped us when we couldn't work out the lock for the front door!
The room surpassed our expectations - photos do not do this place justice!
The Japanese bath was lovely!
Everything. Food is excellent, staff are extremely friendly, room is big and clean with a hot spring bath. Hotel provides shuttle service from/to the JR station, and it also provide shuttle service to/from the nearby cable car for sight seeing.
The spa was good too.
It was overall good! They have a welcome counter in Kyoto station and they send our luggage to the hotel. so we can go around luggage free! i really loved it!
The staff is also nice.
It will be a good idea to rent a car if you’re traveling around Biwako.
very clean Lovely hotel
helpful staff
loved all the onsens
delicious meals... didn't expect the 7+ course dinner! :)
large and very comfortable beds
great large rooms with all the amenities -- they even provided some snacks in the rooms!
Real way of Japanese life with an Onsen for bathroom with Japanese people, living like them. Eating exactly like them. Wearing the yukata. The shuttle to go to the station, the vintage of the hotel, the free power plate. I want to go back.
Bathroom was in Japanese style (wet room + bath tub and toilet, washing basin are separated by doors) and very confortable. it was a bit tight for 4 people, but not too small for just sleeping.
Shuttle bus from Otsu station came on time.
Very friendly staff, always happy to oblige. Beautiful large room with spectacular lake view. We ate in the Italian and Garden buffet restaurants, food in both was fabulous if a little pricey by Japanese standards.
The hotel itself is very pleasant. The accommodation was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even delivered my forgotten item to the station. I was able to rewind and relax throughout the stay.
1. Facing the lake
2. Spacious room
3. Free shuttle to/ from the hotel and Otsu station
4. Buffet breakfast with plentiful choices of food
5. Friendly staff
