FAQs about hotels in Brighton & Hove

Colorful by Day and Night

Known for colorful nightlife and traditional English seaside pursuits, Brighton and nearby Hove are the closest beach resorts to London, making them popular end points for classic car runs from the capital. Many end at the racetrack, a few streets from Brighton Marina, Europe’s largest, housing several shops and eateries. Many Brighton guesthouses on Booking.com are also nearby.

Running along the beachfront is the world’s oldest operating electric train, ending by Brighton Pier. Lit up at night and also known as Palace Pier, this city icon houses amusements and rides, and is one place to pick up some famous Brighton Rock, the confectionery sharing its name with an edgy Graham Greene novel set here.

A new addition, the Brighton Wheel is right by the pier, while one of its most famous attractions is the Royal Pavilion, a former royal retreat built in Indian style.

Just west are 2 of the most popular Brighton shopping spots – Churchill Square shopping center and The Lanes with its narrow streets and unusual shops. This area also has several Brighton hotels with parking, and the Artists Quarter, a series of ex-fishing huts that are now galleries. Arts + culture are big in Brighton, and Brighton Festival is the UK’s 2nd largest arts festival, while Brighton Pride is also a big event on the annual calendar.

I’ve stayed in Brighton numerous occasions. And would return. Unfortunately the property my partner and two pooches stayed in was in Hove and the run down side of Hove. Especially the property externally and the entrance hall which lead to the lifts. Upon arrival the lifts were working and then out of order for two days due to maintenance works being carried out. I was going to leave sooner. But my partner wished to stay considering we came far. I definitely would not return back.

Lively place, excellent beach front with loads to do, great places to eat and drink. Everything was in easy walking distance. Felt very safe, never saw any crime or drunken aggressive behaviour. Everyone was friendly and easy going. I liked it more and more the more time I was there. We ate out each night and so much variety from fast food at Shelter Hall, although I sent my food back as it wasn't nice through to high end steak at The Coal Shed which was expensive but beautiful food and great staff. Giggling Squid was also a highlight. Gorgeous food, very lovely staff and reasonably priced. Loads of places to shop and The Lanes is an experience in itself browsing the narrow twisting lanes with individual eclectic shops. As you get off the train it doesn't give a great first impression, it looks a bit run down and grubby but as you get towards Hove it gets better and the seafront is amazing. We went on i360 and that was great if not a little expensive for what was a very short time, 20mins start to finish at £37, glad we did it but wouldn't do it again.

The facade of Selina Hotel is a little deceiving. It is a very nice reception area with some interesting plants and a place to sit and enjoy a coffee or tea. The rooms small but clean and very comfortable beds. We had a nice view from the room. The radiator was a bit too warm and could've been adjusted but the other was switched off. Lucky with the weather which made a difference to getting around. It was a great location and plenty of clvariety at Preston Street for the many restaurants to choose from

It was a good choice for an early spring visit when the weather was cool. We were able to walk miles along the prom and paths at the foot of the cliffs. The town is lively and the Royal Pavilion well worth visiting. The bus service was excellent and we were able to visit other towns along the coast. There was a wide choice of resturants.

Brighton is wonderful! Lots to see and do. A variety of cafes, bars, restaurants to go to. So much choice. I chose to eat at a wondeful Thai restaurant cakes Siam Siam. I chose vegetable tempura and then chicken massamam curry with sticky rice. It was incredible. Also Artists Open Houses is on during the month of May, all around Brighton and surrounding areas. I visited 6 open house locations and saw and wonderful arts and crafts. Beautiful architecture, wonderful old buildings. A 1 night stay is not enough. I still haven't seen so much!

Love Brighton for long walks and shopping with plenty of places to eat & drink, like a lot of places post Covid it can be a bit scruffy and run down in places with empty shops but all the staff we came across were great, obviously gets a bit lively at times but the council have security patrols walking around during the day and evenings so feels safer than some places we've been.

The Malmaison at Brighton Marina is an exceptional hotel and without a doubt the BEST I have ever stayed at. I had a front suite with balcony overlooking the beautiful Marina. The furnishings, quality of the rooms, bathrooms was absolutely 1st class and the decor and trendy lighting throughout the entire suite was stunning. All staff that I had dealings with were very efficient, friendly and could not do enough to help me when needed. I could not fault this hotel in any way, and plan to return again for a longer stay in the near future.

Ideal location has we went for the racing at Brighton and the following day at fontwell were we had to catch a train which was 4minute to the station.we also had a full day in Brighton with the hotel only a 10 minute walk to the seafront and only 2 min walk to around 4 pubs. We didn’t have breakfast because of our arrangements but passing through the eating area the food on looks looked really nice.the car park was only a few minutes walk and cheaper than expected all in all a nice stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel itself has a wonderful old fashioned style which is perfect for Brighton's faded seaside glamour. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean, aesthetic, and well set out. Everything was very well maintained. The seafront location is great. And Brighton's huge range of restaurants, cafes and pubs are nearby. Staff were professional. Overall I was struck by how well priced The Grand was for a UK hotel. Really impressed.

Need somewhere to stay in Brighton for work that was affordable. We read reviews and decided to go for it. Very cheap for a hotel a short way from the beach. Yes the decor was a bit dated, but these hotels did not have a good year last year with no income! Our room was spotless bed comfy. Yes we shared a toilet but only with one other room. It was spotless. The hotel was very quiet at night no disturbance at all. Breakfast continental and adequate. Would stay again!

We had a fantastic stay at Drakes Hotel. It is positioned within easy walking distance of the town centre, the pier and facing the beach. It has very good and friendly staff, a lovely little bar and lounge for guests overlooking the seafront; and the room we had was very reasonably priced when comparing to other Brighton venues. I was informed the hotel has recently been bought and will be refurbishing the hotel, so all the above may well change!

Our host was very kind and helpful. He was there when we arrived, even though it was a holiday Monday, and we had not let him know when we would be arriving. He had suggestions for restaurants (having already let us know that Ruby Pub and Hotel would not be serving food that night). The rooms were incredibly clean, beds comfortable. Our host suggested that we visit the Royal Pavilion near the beach in Brighton, so we did, the next day.

The location is very close to the beach and walkable to The Lanes and Pavillion. Owner Jeremy was very responsive and helpful. He allowed us for a late check out and provided us with parking permits on short notice. It was a self check in and hassle free. They have kept a good amount of biscuits, tea, coffee, squash sticks, and water so that we can have a quick munch. There was even a mini fridge in the room.
